Any idea what's the gender of dipsy, lala and po? I found out from an old TIME mag that the purple teletubby, twinky winky is a boy.. someone was asking why then he carries a purse.. then an article from another issue mentioned that economists attribute the rising cases of autism in children towards tv programmes..maybe watching teletubies. I remembered watching some episodes when i was young. they seldom speak. they used actions rather than words. thus in this case, could it be that children who watched too much of that show speak less...i'm quite surprised by this. but i think they are really cute!

What the hell!! my blogskin.. i've yet solve the problem, so probably changing to a new skin the next few days. It'll be a tedious process...

Well, as promised yesterday, i'm now going to recall some of the funny moments which took place during the concert. The first 5 pieces was played by lee chu voon, then followed by a short interval, then the shifu 's turn to play. we were damn impressed by their playings. they were marvellous. tai shang yi fen zhong, tai xia si nian gong, this phrase is so appropriate man. funny part was when after shifu's performance of one piece, he took a bow and left the stage, before coming out again for his next performance. (This is the usual practice. the musician return to the backstage for awhile then come out again) ok, when he came out again, lee voon followed him out. she made a mistake cos she thought shifu finished playing and it's her turn to present the sonata in d minor together with shifu. so she went back in. guessed she must have been embarassed.. shifu made a remark:' she's eager to play for us' and this drew laughter from the audience. The part when they played together, some ppl were laughing. becos the chair kept squeaking. shifu's was quite big-sized so when he played loudly, his piano chair gave out some squeaky noises.. kk finally at the end when flowers are being presented to mr ong and lee voon, we were laughing because shifu received so many bouquet of flowers, compared to his student. in the end u know what he did? he actually 'stacked' some bouquets in the hands of lee voon. haha... It was a night of enjoyment, and today my motivation. haha whenever i think of lee voon, somehow parts that i usually play wrongly, today actually played correctly.. funny haha...

Today went to holy innocents pri in the evening to pick my 2 cousins up from school. brought them back to our house for dinner. cos their parents went to fetch their new maid home. i saw my pri 3 chinese teacher. su lao shi. her face no change.. but of course she couldnt recognize us lor... met mr teo, the discipline master. wa he's very respectful towards us lor.. telling me to look for the kids in the canteen. i rmb i used to hate him..cos he was a fierce discipline master..well, that was the past. I think now only about 3 tcrs know us la.. sigh..think must go back more often. i wanna give mrs chan a surprise..then also saw gabriel. last time my cathecism class junior. now pri 5. he's totally different from what he used to be.. very talkative now.. but i abit shocked cos he hugged me a few times.. and ppl were staring. he still rmb many years ago, maybe 8 yrs? dunno la.. during our chinese cat camp i made him read a reading.. haha god knows whether there's such thing yet he could remember. I told him 'got meh? u still rmb argh?'

It's so 'early' already! and i'm tired, blogging before i turn off the computer. I wanted so much to blog about the heavenly concert this evening. It ended around 10plus. but i shall do it tmr cos i wanna sleep already. talented young pianist (13 yr old nia), chu lee voon and her tutor, the famous Mr Ong lip tat. FANTASTIC!

Alright.. and today received 2 pieces of news from smu. one through mail and the other through e-mail. the good one is a letter from the economics society, telling us about the up-coming sentosa camp on 23jul. yeah! i went on-line to confirm my attendance immediately. ok so the another not so good one.. rather the expected one, is about the 5-day english lang workshop. for a level students of gp c5 and below. so with a c5 for gp, no choice lor.. anyway i'm confident about the course.. cos seniors say is about some basic grammar and writing skills.. so i don't think it will be that difficult for me. aiya.. a bit haolian... and u know, it's 9-5pm daily for the whole week. on one hand i was kinda shocked. ang moh for 8 hours? long hours leh. But on the other hand, class starts at 9AM. I was like, wow...can wake up at 7.45am.. sleep so much argh.. last time even the 3 minutes walk to srjc, i used to wake up at 6.40am every morning. hee. very pampered ar! smu.. very near NAFA.. so next time can attend more concerts. lol.

Ok.. turning in now.. with the pieces that they played in mind...especially the sonata in d minor where both pianists played together. This is where mo qi between teacher and pupil works wonders! ZZZzzzz...

Oh dear.. suddenly my the grand piano(blogskin) disappear! what's going on???

Anyway..more church stuff coming up. This weekend... my choir scheduled to sell st anne's feastday tickets at nativity church. sat the 4.30pm teochew mass... hmmm. i'll get to hone my teochew, as i 'promote' my church's feast day tics to the teochew-speaking ah gongs and ahmas. then 6pm ang moh mass. after that i shall see if i still got the mood to go st anne for chinese mass.. As for sun. easy. after mass at st anne's, our choir will be at nativity by 11am. that'll mean no choir prac. yes! or maybe just a very short one..
Then 7jul sat another church day. woosh. wedding again. iris msged just a while ago. i blog this down in case i forget. becos this mass not in-charge by our choir so no one's gonna remind us.. then last week just agreed to attend the evening mass on the same day itself.. anyway, my top record was 5 masses in the weekend. this year we've yet to break the record.

the most anticipated thing is on fri.. sec sch class gathering. gonna get more updates soonie.. right now i'll be hardworking on the piano. time is really running out and i'm not going to procrastinate anymore. gotta start serious work. piano concert tmr. at NAFA. mum wants the four of us to hear it together.. true.. i need some 'therapy' as in motivation. tmr let the prodigy inspire me!

Hahaha i didnt know fr henry can crack jokes during wedding masses, until today. He said he was giving the bride and groom a 'surprised test' each by placing the microphone at their mouths and asking them questions. eg what qualities should a wife/husband have? His so called 'surprised test' added some laughter to the mass, especially from some non-catholics.

Well, i came across this phrase by mr Lim Swee Say : 'shui zhang chuan gao', in the papers. cannot remember is yest or thurs one.. cos i read them in bulk. i like the way he used this phrase to help in his proposition to the policy of raising the age at which singaporeans can withdraw the cpf minimum sum. beauty of chinese right? these 4 characters are his arguments in supporting the policy. it makes alot of sense.

I settled my hair today-the usual place, centrepoint jantzen. trim and straighten. so now i feel lighter. i was the last last last customer. cos i didnt know rebonding actually take more than 2 hours.. so reached home around 10 plus.. exhausted already. so i'll practice the wedding songs tmr. hmm.. a bit regret, should have done it earlier. cos lydia studying for mid-year exams thus i'm playing alone. ya and there's this new song called' lives brought together' which i haven play it before. march in song also yet to decide..

This morning i had my check-up done.. finally at ang mo kio raffles medical. i don't really like the doc, cos he was just too good at crapping, sometimes i didn't even know what was he rambling about. The eye test was performed by the counter staff. then height and weight taken. I drank 500ml of water on the spot. haha. effective. so urine test settled! But i had to queue to see the doc for the blood pressure thing. so when i went in, we started our chatting. he was very nice and humorous. but just couldnt stop rambling. from jc talk to uni. and i don't even need to talk about myself. cos he loved talking about himself, commenting about the old buildings of nus, the 'ulu' location of ntu, and the 'scattered' environment of smu. so much to say. criticise, rather. then he started talking about his jc.. what he didn't like about njc. sang the first 2 lines of his college anthem.. not njc one, but hwa chong. blah blah bla...then FINALLY we ended the conversation with the blood pressure test. As for the x-ray, i walked a few steps opposite the clinic to ang mo kio polyclinic. wa it was crowded. waited for 30min. guess who i saw... joyce's mother. btw joyce's my cousin. we just met once last week. I could not recognize her at first, as she was in her uniform. chatted a while cos she was busy, as an admin staff of the polyclinic. so the whole process took 2 hours. And another thing settled!

And wedding again this sat. hmm i realise june and dec are always the peak months for wedding masses. every week wedding masses are held in church. but good thing is that we get a break this weekend. for sun, anne chan will help us. then mum playing chinese mass. xiu xi shi wei zou geng chang yuan de lu. sometimes i also yearn to attend a mass where i can just sit back and sing. yup. and i'm so happy that the choir practices held on wednesdays in prep for fr tu's mass ended last night. it's a lil boring to me cos firstly, of the 2half hours without break. secondly, i'm not the one playing on the actual day itself. the organist from st bernadette will be playing. so i'm playing just for the sake of helping.

Yay!!! I got my new phone finally.. nokia 6300. Tday had a long time inserting all my contacts.. i applied for student plan: 500 free sms and free in-coming calls per month. but there was a bit of problem. cos now i'm in a sort of 'transition period', so i need to prove that i'm a student to enjoy the plan. so he asked me to bring something to prove i'm going to uni. so mafan.. Then apart from that, i'm also happy that i bought my mp3. for $49 at causeway point. very important to me now becos my piano exam is in less than 3 months' time.. yet i still play like shit..i think.. so i've recorded the 3 pieces in my mp3. listen to it everynight before sleep... er ru mu ran, hope i'll 'produce' at least half of the pianist's standard during exam..and i'll be contented.

I dedicate this blog entry to dad. coz card so small, no space to write..

To dad:
Thank you for everything. Thank you for raising me and lydia these 18 years and 11 months. and lynette for like 15 years and 4 months. Thank you for being a listening ear to all. Thank you for buying lunch for us everyday despite your busy work schedule. Thank you for always being there for us. Thank you for you being kind and loving. Thank you for forking out a bomb sum of $32400 for my coming 4 years of smu education, and of course, this- (tertiary education) is just a very small part of our lives, you have spent much much much more on us all these years. most importantly, apart from monetary terms, there's also something which we must thank you, for in this world, nothing can replace this thing. That is your LOVE for us! =) Happy Fathers' Day!

Just a sharing on what fr Henry Siew's talk about, today just after the mass and a short choir practice. The topic is on 'tuan ti qi dao de yi yi he fang si'. in english will mean, the meaning and alternatives of group prayer. He wrote a very compact booklet, suggesting that apart from using traditional printed prayers eg our father, hail mary etc, there are other ways to pray too. For eg, we can use bible readings. a member of the family can read out a scripture and the rest are free to pick out short phrases which are meaningful to them and just say it out 3 times. fr Siew shared with us quite a no of ways and all can be found in the notes. so i'll share more after i read it.
The purpose for his talk is to encourage ppl to pray. especially families. A FAMILY THAT PRAYS TOGETHER, STAYS TOGETHER. Now as years go by, and as my family's practice of praying the rosary everynight as a family goes by, i come to understand the phrase above. thinking back, i wonder when did my family ever start this practice. perhaps 10 yrs ago? And i think is mum suggested one..look at the 3 of us.. can't possibly be us lor! aiya cant really remember la. and i'm very 100% sure that it is because of praying, that the 5 of us get ample time at night to mingle and interact with one another. especially our dearest dad who everyday brings the bacon home. so some cute things here.. haha i wonder if my ahma knows about it... anyway ya, ok, each of us is scheduled to lead in the rosary once a week. mine is on wed-glorious mystery. even when we have this so called 'schedule', we tend to 'quarrel' over who's gonna be the leader. phrases like:' tonight who lead argh, oh today not me, etc very common.haha. then in the midst of 'pushing the blame', chit chat lor... talk talk talk. But after the fun, somehow there comes the tough part, FALLING ASLEEP. omg, not to deny, i myself sometimes fall asleep too. esp after a tired day from school.. dad leh.. same la. but very understandable lah. How can we not understand??
And because of these nitty-gritty reasons, or rather excuses, I really feel supportive of what fr Siew says. The other alternatives are more lively, interesting, 'open' and most importantly, i think nobody dares to fall asleep. hor? (i'll make sure mummy daddy read this entry of mine...)
so wanna change? End of the day, no matter what reasons that our family may have (eg tmr i got test, so cannot stop studying. or now very late already, can pray tmr argh?), when everybody makes an effort to gather together and pray, there's always interaction between us. chemistry. haha. and this leads to laughter: hahahaha. lynette right?? *grin*. Therefore, this is just our family's reason for being close-knitted i would say. =) yup.

Today marks the funeral of our dear uncle james. The mass is at 2pm, at the church of sacred heart. Before that we gather at the wake, then took the bus to church. After mass, Lynette and i didn't follow them to mandai for the cremation, becos this evening need to go church.

By the way, i love this blogskin alot..cos of the pink background. my fav colour! The grand piano looks cool too..

Tonight's the last day of uncle james' wake.. and tmr which is sat, will be the funeral mass at 2pm. I'll be giving Jenny's wedding a miss.. cos it's not very nice (auspicious) to attend someone's wedding when we have our own funeral at home. ya? so buddy, i won't be seeing u tmr..Anyway, wishing jenny and kelvin a very blissful marriage=)

Time really flies. today is fri already. haha why i keep having the impression that today is thurs?? so later need to dig out scores and prac organ cos this week got 2 masses. sat and sun. mummy on 'leave'. other than that, going to continue my macro-econs revision. I gave all my jc stuff out le, to minghui. she's now at anderson jc. so a bit not used to reading lydia's notes.. i'm reading at a slow pace, trying to 'savour' everything haha. I aim to finish macro notes today, so tmr start on micro. after that i can read all the essay plans from sis. That'll be my econs revision! and i don't think i want to be exempted for both foundation courses, calculus and intro econs come aug. cos i need to rely on them to pull up my gpa.. 3.4 pls.. then can apply to do double degree. maybe i'm too ambitious? haha..

-Thursday, June 14, 2007-1:21 AM Y

We just returned from uncle james' wake. He's just 40 yrs...may god relieve the pains of those who are close to him... anyway, just a summary of what happened today. we were at the wake around 10.15pm, which was quite late. did a short prayer, then spent time with my cousins, jonathan and vincent. chatted.. thanks to them, they helped us passed time, at least got ppl to talk to la. And I didnt know i had so many cousins actually..hee.. anyway since we're all related, i feel that we should get to know one another. haha at the very least, know that they are my relatives=) Before we headed home, had another prayer. dad last min told me to read the reading.. then i panicked. quickly had a glimspe of the passage before presenting it. luckily i didn't screw up cos ever since i did my O level higher chinese, i never read anything in chinese. funny right?

yup.. then before the wake we were at Bugis junction. i went there to do my eye-test. cos last fri at centrepoint, 'monsoon eyewear' did not have their lab. so i got it done at bugis. Had a surprise. my eye degree was not as high as what i think ALL THE WAY. for 2half years leh. i thought, or i thought the optometrist said, or.. whatever, that my eye degree was 375 last time and it may shoot up to 400 or what so ever. Both eyes actually turn out to be 250 nia. so after all, my eyesight is not as bad as what i think.haha. Anyway, both my spects are on dad's account. cos who ask him dun allow me wear contact lenses.. ok, although i do know about the risks..what he did is always for my own good.

I finished my eye-test le. left urine test, blood pressure test and chest x-ray test.. must get it done by 5th-6th jul. and we are reminded that test must be done at least 3 days after menstruation. so i will do it next week. still must tao yao bao lor, pay $18 altogether, at any of the raffles medical group outlets. and not that i wanna complain.. smu a bit niao.. only send us one email today to tell us the date of matriculation and just give us the school website. Reason: they expect us to PRINT OUT all the forms ourselves. even what's going on during that med check-up, check what, venues of check-up, cost of check-up, these are the things that i found out by myself. smu does not send any hardcopy to us. i wonder what's like at nus and ntu..guess students will receive matriculation package.. i think so. no choice lor.. i'll print everything out by myself..

Today after church we(dad, me n sis only) went to Joanna's new place for her house-warming party. She lives near us in fact. hougang ave 8. so we can just walk to her place. Hers is a two-storey unit, very well-furnished.. overall very nice la...xian mu. The buffet was nice. wide array of dishes. I had a very full lunch. so dinner didn't eat that much. imagine the 3 of us can't even finish a packet of fried rice and a packet of fried noodles..for dinner. while papa and mama went to dunno where and pai tuo.

Practically slacking today actually. It seems to me that sun i must take a nap. probably because we wake up very early to go to church. that's why in the afternoon tend to feel sleepy. so.. had a nearly 2half hour sleep. I feel wide awake now. later i'll be reading the papers before going to bed..

-Friday, June 8, 2007-1:35 PM Y

I chose 2 new glasses yesterday. at monsoon eyewear-centrepoint. the fashionable kind la. I had difficulty chosing the frame, becos mummy said how come i looked nice in most glasses. guess should be facial shape ba. cos my face is longer and bigger than my twin's one. hee. Mum had a 40% discount, based on her UOB card or whatever thingy, that's why we could buy our glasses at a low price. great bargain!

Just now iris msg and asked if we could help for the 5.30pm mass tmr. And FORTUNATELY, it reminds me of the wedding mass tmr. We actually forgot that there's a wedd at 11.30 tmr.. luckily..luckily... so it means that later must go through the hymns.

Then sun going to Joanna's house-warming party. Her new place is at Hougang Ave 8, very near to my place.. so we can just walk there. 12pm lunch buffet-means many things to eat..

I miss my sis. Lynette, the chatter-box of our house. She went for confirmation camp. will only be back this sun. Without her the house is so quiet. cos every night she would say jokes and make all of us laugh..I wonder what's she doing..

-Thursday, June 7, 2007-4:32 PM Y

A super hot day today. i've been cooping up myself in the music room (cos got air-con) doing my daily routine. prac piano: pieces, scales, sight reading. then also read the papers and Time mags. global warming...making our place so 'heaty'.

I'm waiting for mummy to finish cooking. cos i'm going out with her- to buy new spectacles and do eye-test at the same time. This is one of the requirement for our med check-up before we can enter school. I need an eye test urgently. can u believe, my last eyetest was in nov 2004. wow. that's like 2and half years. wonder how far my eye degree would shoot up.. lol.

Oh dad called me few mins ago.. telling me that he had send over today's papers. He reminded me to read an article under forum. again the topic on varsity admission. wow, it's been one week and everyday there's articles about the uni. ppl complaining about the lack of transparency in nus etc. But i believe what nus says is true. cos it's gp, project work and mother tongue that counts. even if a person has a forth A level subject or how many distinctions in their S paper(s), all these ultimately do not reflect in the university admission score. Life can be complex sometimes.. and simplicity can be a form of happiness, as long as u enjoy what u do. agree?!

Today's a fun day! In the morning, i accompanied garaldine to MDIS unicampus at Queenstown, to enquire more about the degree courses offered there. we spoke to wendy, who introduced and explained to us the various courses offered. Hmm then around 1pm we left the campus. went to raffles city where we lunched at burger king. we all ate cheeseburger=) After eating, shopping for a while. i bought corlis' birthday gift at the very last minute. we were thinking on what to buy for her. then came to this watch shop. we were attracted by a white digital watch, so i bought it. geraldine and gerard went off first, cos they were going to take a look at PSB academy. I went home soon.

At 6.15pm, plaza singapura. meeting corlis and rekha. to celebrate corlis' birthday. We had dinner at yoshinoya. beef bowl..yeah! chatting.. wow alot to talk.. cos so long never meet already. Rekha showed us testimonials written by our tutors, mr kwek and ms tan to aid in her appeal to uni. I was shocked lor.. that our math and chem tutors could actually produce such high standard of english. haha. happy happy day. after eating. ya window shopping. go yamaha, times to read magazines etc. went home aroud 8.30pm.

Later gonna prac organ. super last min. cos tmr is the choir prac. for fr tu's jubilee mass. hai.. so many to prac... jia you ba.

Yeah, after today, i no need to rack my brains on where to go. today's gonna be the end of the joint acceptance period-4th june. i'm taking note of the up-coming camps. wow, kinda excited cos there's 3 camps to attend before school officially starts on 20 aug..haha 2 weeks later than nus and ntu. Alright the first camp which i dunno when, shld be july ba.. will be the freshmen team-building camp(3D2N) and i think i'll meet ppl from other faculty. the next one, from 23jul-24jul is a camp for those reading economics, like me. that's at sentosa. a camp with profs. And the last one is my cca camp! yay. the smu fides camp from 14-16 aug. then also have to attend matriculation day, go for med check up etc. so i think i'll get very busy from july onwards..

I don't like this blogskin!!! Lynette helped me changed it cos for those ppl who use internet explorer, they can't see my blog. I'm using mozilla. so i guess by using this blogskin, the problem can be solved..

So my final decision: smu! hopefully no regrets la. becos i absolutely trust Dr Eugene Ung. He's just so knowledgeable=) had a one hour talk with him on my options. and i knew i found the right person.. cos he would give us insights. He was even well-versed in overseas uni. For eg, he could name the top 5 law schools in the world, one by one. I didn't even know what he was talking about. He was so impressive. u know like a uni dictionary. He admitted that he loves finding out the cost of studying overseas. And it was also him who reminded me of my music career. He said NAFA, and those music shops are close in proximity to smu. haha as though i'm studying at nafa. He said to mum,'u know as parents, this kind of thing don't wait till last min then come and decide.' ya i'm really the last min kind haha. tmr's the last day lor..

Went xiaogu's house to change my option this afternoon. cos again, mio got problem. so can't log on to internet. But it's ok now. so i'm here to complain abt this blogskin.

I have 2 more days to 4th june-closing date of the joint acceptance. After my mum came back from church around 9.30pm, my parents, including myself, felt very strongly for smu. i seemed to be very firm about smu, though no action had been taken( to go on-line change my option). mrs goh says choose smu. cos the prospects better. well, that's what mr er think so, i guess. everyone seems so pro-smu. Although i won't choose smu just to satisfy ppl, fact is when ntu vs smu, ther's no particular preference on one. Does that mean that i'm neutral? i'm not sure either. my dad says just go for the best. have confidence in myself. that;s true. i've to admit that i don't have much confidence to go smu. becos in the first place i wonder how come i'm qualified for smu. but come to realise, last year, i was the one who rejected smu. It's not smu reject me. so how can i say i'm not worthy of smu right? i guess i'll change my option tmr. haha. so contradicting. first day accept. last day reject, then choose another one.. how come choosing a preferred uni can be so tough? i should pray now.
